The Benefits of Staircasing

If you make a part repayment through staircasing, it will reduce the fees you have to pay after three years of owning your FTBI home. Your mortgage payments may increase but it does mean that you are entitled to a greater share of the total sale proceeds when you sell in the future.

If you make a full repayment of the loan you will no longer have to pay any fees and will be entitled to all of the sale proceeds from your property as the Homes and Communities Agency will no longer hold any interest in your property.

For this reason we recommend that, if you can, you should consider repaying part or all of the financial help on your home as soon as you are able to do so.
